How we handle your information

This tool only needs what it takes to estimate costs. Here's exactly what happens to what you share.

What we never ask for

Names, Social Security numbers, member ID numbers, or birth dates. Ages and relationships are enough.

If you don't sign in

Your answers stay in this browser tab (session storage) and disappear when you close it. To calculate, your answers are sent to our server, used once, and not stored or logged. Plan documents you upload are read in memory to pull out the numbers and then discarded.

If you share photos of your plan document

  • By default, photos are read on your own device. They don't leave your browser and nothing is stored.
  • Only if you tick the box that says so, a photo can instead be sent to OpenAI, whose more capable model reads it. It can be used once every 5 minutes per person; at other times we use the on-device reader. We ask OpenAI not to store the photo, and we don't store it or what it says. Please keep names and ID numbers out of the photo.
  • Anything read from a photo is shown to you to check before it is used.

If you sign in with Google

  • We ask Google only for your email address, and for the identifier Google gives your account so we can recognize you next time.
  • We don't receive or keep your name, photo, contacts or anything else from your Google profile, and we don't get your Google password.
  • Signing in with Google doesn't share your estimates or answers with Google.

If you save an estimate

  • We store your email, a securely hashed password (or, if you use Google, Google’s account identifier instead), and the estimate you chose to save.
  • Health details in a saved estimate are encrypted (AES-256-GCM) and can only be read when you're signed in.
  • Saved estimates are deleted automatically after 12 months.
  • You can download everything we hold or delete your account at any time from Settings.
  • We keep a minimal activity log (for example “estimate saved”) without health details, for up to 400 days, for security.
